The brief
A Hertfordshire music festival asked us to capture each day's performances across several stages. The feeds had to be mixed and broadcast live to large outdoor LED screens, and streamed online through the festival's social channels.
The solution
We worked with the festival over several years with a multi-camera setup: eight Sony 4K cameras, a Panasonic PTZ robotic camera, an automatic camera tracking slider and wireless camera links. Blackmagic and Roland vision switchers with large preview screens, Atomos 4K recording, chroma overlay and live graphics produced a festival-quality feed. A 100Mbps up/down link through the venue's internet provider, dual streaming laptops with redundancy and wireless talkback kept it all connected.
The advantages
- Fans who couldn't attend could enjoy the festival live.
- Stronger brand awareness for the festival.
- Playback and publicity for the festival, bands and artists.
- Vivid screen relay shots that improved the experience for the crowd.
- Content to promote future festival years.
